At the technology summit, International Business Machines' Cox presented a persuasive case for open innovation in corporate machine learning. Cox, Vice President of AI models and head at the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, stressed the crucial nature of openness in tech progress, notably in the current artificial intelligence ecosystem.
David highlighted the complex character of accessibility in AI, challenging the simplistic perception of the principle. He observed the growing ecosystem of open models from various sources, including tech giants, universities, and nation-states.
However, he articulated reservations about the standard of accessibility in numerous LLMs, observing that some provide little more than a "bag of numbers" devoid of clarity in their development processes.
